A St. Louis Park couple’s kitchen was in need of a total renovation and refresh. The big problem with the space was it was closed off from the dining room and living room. The couple wanted the ability to spend time in the kitchen while talking to guests or watching their children, so the layout needed to change. They also desired to bring more natural light into this space.
They sought bids from four other contractors before contacting the team at VL Builders. The couple said our team stood out as the most organized, detailed, and polished out of all the contractors they contacted. They were also pleased that we were transparent about the timeline and costs and gave them different kitchen remodeling options, ranging from minor updates to a complete remodel, so they could choose how best to spend their money.
Transforming a Cramped Kitchen

The VL Builders team began the process by sitting down with the client to understand their needs and wants so we could create a budget and scope to accomplish their goals for their new kitchen.
During the consultation, we explained our kitchen design process and the proposed timeline. We also helped the couple select materials, performed all necessary demolition, managed the entire kitchen remodeling project, did any necessary electrical and HVAC work, helped them select finishes, installed tile, hung drywall, and protected the site.
During the project, our crew found an HVAC unit buried in a wall. To solve this problem, we opened the wall and framed a soffit to hide the ductwork. For kitchen finishes and cabinetry, the couple chose Element glass tile in Mist Glass, Koch cabinetry with Liberty flat panel doors, Silestone countertops in Mythology Grey, and Bayer Built mouldings.
Exceptional Kitchen Remodeling with Phenomenal Results
At VL Builders, our clients’ best interests are most important. We never cut corners with service or materials, and we consistently strive to improve our process, incorporating new technologies and advanced construction methods to provide even better results.
“Despite our kitchen being torn apart, the staff did an incredible job keeping the worksite cleaned up every day so we could still use our kitchen and so our two toddlers were safe,” the St. Louis Park couple wrote in a review. “We were always kept in the loop on timeline changes, cost updates, and when workers would or wouldn’t be showing up that week.”
